Breakthrough & classic run

• Bacdafucup (1993) – Platinum, propelled by the crossover smash “Slam” (US #4 Hot 100; also #1 on Hot Rap for two weeks). The album won Best Rap Album at the 1994 Soul Train Music Awards and earned an AMAnomination for Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop New Artist. Singles “Throw Ya Gunz” (Hot Rap #1) and “Shifftee” (Hot Rap #2) cemented their takeover. 

• All We Got Iz Us (1995) – A darker, critically loved follow-up with the cult classic “Last Dayz,” whose instrumental later scored a pivotal rap-battle scene in 8 Mile. 

• Shut ’Em Down (1998) – A star-studded, full-throttle LP. The single “Shut ’Em Down” featured DMX; the notorious “React” marked one of 50 Cent’s first official appearances on record.

• “Slam” – The song that brought slam-dancing to hip-hop and made ONYX a household name. 

• “Throw Ya Gunz” – A rowdy street anthem that topped Billboard’s Hot Rap Singles.

Global ties & the Netherlands connection

ONYX’s hardcore travels well: in 2017 they teamed up with Dutch heavyweights Dope D.O.D. for the collaborative album Shotgunz in Hell, produced largely by Dutch beatmakers and released through their independent imprints. It’s a gritty, European-flavoured extension of the ONYX DNA—and a perfect bridge to our Amsterdam scene. 

2010s–today: relentless output

Far from legacy-act mode, ONYX have kept the gas pressed:

• #WakeDaFucUp (2014) – A full-album link-up with German production crew Snowgoons that re-sparked their boom-bap ferocity. 

• Black Rock (2018) – Barbed verses over gritty guitar-driven production. 

• SnowMads (2019) – ONYX × Snowgoons, round two. 

• Onyx 4 Life (2021) – Feature-packed, energy high. 

• Onyx Versus Everybody (2022) – Dropped the same spring they faced Cypress Hill in a VERZUZ battle at The Forum in L.A. 

• 1993 (2022) – A throwback-futurist concept LP built for raw head-nods. 

• Blood On Da X (2023) & World Take Over (2023) – New heat and an international collab series, proving the engine still roars. 

• Lower East Side (2025) – Their 14th album, with Fredro & Sticky continuing the no-compromise streak. 

Beyond the booth

Both members have deep film/TV chops. Fredro Starr starred in Moesha, Sunset Park, Clockers and more; Sticky Fingaz headlined Blade: The Series and has appeared across TV and film, further elevating the ONYX profile outside music.
